New Zealand Certificate of Steiner Education (NZCSE) – A Qualification for Waldorf High School Students
At Sasana, our high school students work toward the New Zealand Certificate of Steiner Education
(NZCSE), an internationally recognised qualification designed specifically for Waldorf schools.
The NZCSE reflects the values of Waldorf education — creativity, critical thinking, responsibility, and social
engagement — while also providing a clear and reliable pathway to universities and colleges in Malaysia and abroad.
Assessment is not based on high-stakes exams alone. Instead, students demonstrate their understanding
through projects, research, presentations, artistic work, and practical application. This approach allows teachers to assess not only academic achievement but also qualities such as initiative, problem-solving, collaboration, and reflection.
The certificate is available at three levels, roughly corresponding to Years 11, 12, and 13, with increasing depth and independence at each stage. Successful completion of NZCSE Level 3 is recognised by many universities worldwide as an entrance qualification.
Through NZCSE, students gain both the academic grounding they need and the personal capacities — creativity, resilience, and responsibility — that prepare them to meet the challenges of higher learning and life beyond school.
